... which is our natural right is not ruled out. Re-establishment of new Tibet of a Tibetan nature in future is inevitable with the grant of any sort of political solution; and this becomes out third goal along with Universal responsibility of enriching sentient beings in all ways humanly possible. If Tibet were to turn into countries like Singapore and Hong Kong, where mercantile capitalism and technological advancement is high, but if it were fail to maintain its Tibet-ness, then that would be very sorry state. Hence, restructure of newly-sprung Tibet with Tibetan identity inherent is the call of the day.The duty of the media in relation to the three chief Tibetan goals stirs up big questions. Regarding the first goal, the danger of degeneration of Tibetan identity originates from cultural decadence. Irrespective of the varied cultural definitions, culture is an acclimatisation toward good aspects of human life and nature that incorporate both Tibetan tenets and the temperament more specially in the Tibetans, basic good nature. Disparity on the basis of region, dress style, dialect, staple diet is not uncommon in Tibet.
Unlike earlier times in Tibet it is difficult nowadays to ascertain the birthplace of the person from amongst the conglomerate Tibetan population. And the one underlying unifying factor is the Tibetan language, the homogenity of which encompasses the upper region of Ngari to the edge of Amdo. Tibet is one coalescent entity through language, with approximately 10 million Tibetan-literate people in Tibet, Bhutan, Nepal, Mongolia, Russia and many tribal communities residing in the northern frontiers of India. Similar written language dissimilar spoken language is a characteristic of Tibet. Just as we have made use of this incongruent written and spoken language for the past couple of thousand years in an adequate manner, so will it be proper to continue the same in future.
In current expatriate situation, the media and the press people's roles is to remind, motivate and promote awareness in Tibetan people of the importance of preservation of culture, custom and tradition time and again in an alien environment in wide appeal. The reason why everyone talks of the complete invasion of different means of mass communication in our contemporary life is nothing but an acknowledgement of the indispensible importance of media. Any entreaty made through media or press has greater impact and wide appeal on the public than anything else. Be it magazines, newspapers, television programmes or the audio tapes when the presentation, contents, mannerism, mode etc reflect and retain a pure Tibetan image, it automatically ensures preservation of Tibetan-ness on the one hand and at the same times fulfills basic media responsibility.
There arises danger of language modification through the number of transactions these days which expose the original Tibetan language to influence and infiltration; views in English, when translated into Tibetan and vice versa, leave a lot to be desired in the final product for most Tibetans, so habituated to think in English, find it hard to do the same in Tibetan.
A thought formed in Tibetan, expressed in a systematic Tibetan framework, when translated into either English or Hindi portray Tibetan semblance. Giving glimpses of disadvantageous situation that any country faced with loss of its ancient culture suffers, in additional responsibility of creating awareness of the ensuing government set-up in Tibet, to be laid on a democratic foundation.
Freedom of Press in exile diaspora is one of the fundamental rights of citizen. There is thin line dividing between the right to privacy and transparency and it calls for journalistic professionalism to see to it that an overlapping of the two does not occur. The concoction of news and views is uncalled for as the editorial section is specifically meant for exposition of views on news or an issue; without an objective outlook a report would be a biased view of an event and happenings. Then, inaccurate usage of words can give rise to problems and confusion of an unprecedented nature.
Therefore, a press and media person par excellence requires to have complete facts, clarity of thought, comprehension of the subject presented and accuracy of vocabulary, not necessarily in that order.
